Mt. Pulaski 175th Anniversary & Historical Calendar

The information below is just some of the new tid-bits
revealed in this historical 2011 calendar

This historical calendar reveals that a former Mount Pulaskian has a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” and its exact location; the winner of the 1910 $10,000 race; who prevented General George Washington’s retreat from becoming a tragedy at the Battle of Brandywine Creek; who became the “Father of the United States Cavalry”; what Lincoln’s great-grandson, Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith, said about Harry Hahn; who owned a small hat shop in the Mount Pulaski House for many years; what local jurist became a highly respected member of the United States Supreme Court and later President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate; what family found a piece of the tank-car shrapnel in the bottom drawer of a chest of drawers in an up-stairs bedroom; what local families have their names in the 1911-1914 American Shire Horse Stud Book of Grand Champions; when the name “Phoenix” was made part of the Mount Pulaski Phoenix Fire Department; pictures and names of local men who were part of three community bands from the late 1890’s through the 1930’s and when the Mount Pulaski theater started, ended and then started up again for less than two years.

And, oh, guess what town band performed at the Republican Rally in Atlanta’s Union Hall in October of 1856, where Abraham Lincoln gave an eloquent address in support of Col. John C. Fremont for the Presidency of the United States?

All proceeds go to the Mount Pulaski Township Historical Society
